Kintsugi Style Repair & Restoration of Decorative Arts

Amy has worked in many restoration studios over the years. Repairing and restoring ceramics and object d’art so the damage is invisible. She specialises in gilding and has developed a contemporary process of restoring objects in the manner of a kintsugi repair. The celebration of the imperfect, embracing flaws and the history of the object . It is rooted in the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and the natural cycle of growth and decay. This is the preferred process of ceramic restoration projects Amy works on in her studio in Brighton, East Sussex.
