Nanashi

£65.00

Small sculptures without a name, something that lacks a specific identity. “Nanashi” in Japanese folklore denotes characters that operate out of societal norms.

To not have a name reminds us that names indicate our heritage and identity and perhaps now there is a strength in anonymity especially in the digital space .

These individuals have unique character depending on how they are placed and on the weight of the beads. A curation of beads from my family, carboots and dealers. A mixture of glass, vintage plastic and wood. They are of animal structure but also like a ufo without the flying .

Sizes are variable 15cm x10cm approx
